Jensen Beach, FL

Jensen Beach, Florida is actually a protest song that focuses on political and ecological issues
prevalent in Jensen Beach, though also found within other small towns as well.

The train in the song is meant to be that of the high-speed, long-distance trains that are newly being implemented within the town. These are opposed by locals as they skip over the small town, isolating the region further.

The chant within in the song belongs to that of Republican Congressmen Brian Mast, who opposes pollution in Florida’s waterways. Over-fertilization of nearby sugar fields cause toxic flesh-eating algae blooms, which affect the tourist economy, fishing industry, and general health of Jensen Beach residents. In light of recent protests surrounding Lake Okeechobee, the agricultural industry is working towards less phosphorus in fertilizers, and cleaner waterways.
