The Milwaukie MegaMantis
TOURIST AND AWARENESS CAMPAIGN
Milwaukie is a bright and spirited city in Clackamas County,. A neighbor to the uniquely-odd Portland, the city has extreme potential for an exciting new identity that would fit with their current values.
Milwaukie identifies their city as a haven for climate-action-pioneers, and makes valiant efforts to protect their natural resources and surrounding forestry. However, with wildfire season now year-round, the effects of climate change really need to be shocking enough to gather national attention.
The Plan:
Create the legend that a large mantis cryptid creature resides in Milwaukie’s woods.
This Mantis creature is then used to symbolize the need for climate action and all things “green” – attracting both a tourist audience fascinated with mystery, and possible residents who will be devout to fighting the effects of climate change.

First, it must be made to look as though the Mantis is and has always been residing within the woodsy areas of Milwaukie.
This phase of the rebrand relies on social media posts and online forums to create folklore. If users do not believe the stories, visibility of the Milwaukie Mantis is being presented.
